Infrared spetroscopy
Infrared spectroscopy
investigates
such internal physical phenomenas
of molecules whose energy corresponds to
quantum of infrared photons.
The energy of IR quanta is smaller than that of visible light and higher than microwaves.
Experimental data about the
phenomenas is achieved with the radiation trasnmitted or
absorped by the examined molecule.

IRresearch
in Oulu
Infrared group of Oulu
has investigated especially rotation-vibration physics
of linear and symmetric top molecules.
Understanding resonance
efects has been one of the main goal.
Asymmetrical molecules have been
under investigation since the late 1990's. Torsional
vibrations and other large aplitude motions inside
molecules have also been a new topic in the group
of Oulu.
Infrared spectroscopy is experimental
research, where the setup of the measurement has very
important role. Since the early 1960's Infrared group of
Oulu has developed instruments, experimental and
calculation methods for the research. Thanks
to this development accurate spectra could have been
measured in Oulu part of which have been accepted for
international standards.
